Word table help

Repeat a table header row in Word correctly

Repeating headings make long tables readable, but the setting belongs only on consecutive header rows at the top of the table.

Set the real header

Select the first row (or consecutive top header rows), open Table Properties → Row, and enable Repeat as header row at the top of each page. Word repeats it only when the table naturally continues onto another page.

Remove accidental headers

Select body rows and clear the same option. A copied or merged row can silently retain header status and create confusing pagination.

Run the local checker to identify header flags on non-first rows and create a reviewable repaired copy.
